passion for music after picking up the guitar at age 9. J.J. was songwriting and performing locally in Duluth from an early age. JJ loved the challenge off learning new instruments such as saxophone, oboe, bassoon, bass guitar and drums. JJ received a degree in Jazz Studies and a degree in Philosophy from The School of Music at Loyola University in New Orleans. He studied Jazz, Classical music, and was also a member in the University chorus.
At age 21, J.J. suffered a severe spinal cord injury in an accident.
